In a complex world with conflicting interests and hard-fought trade wars, PYMAR must strengthen its status as a representative body protecting the interests of Spanish shipbuilding. It is working closely with both the central government and the regional governments of Galicia, the Basque Country and Asturias in order to achieve this aim.
However, although the shipbuilding sector is strategically important in Spain, it faces an increasingly important challenge in the arena of international representation. PYMAR is therefore constantly endeavouring to represent the interests of its shipyards in the European Union. There is an increasing need for an active presence in Europe to fight not only for the national interests of our industry, but also to protect European shipbuilding, which is losing its battle to control a minimal share of the world market in the face of unfair competition from Asian shipyards.
